Working at PLANIT // LEGAL

We don’t have 1000 lawyers, we don’t have 100 offices and we don’t advise on any aspect of commercial law. And we don’t want that either. We are a law firm with a clear focus on IT and data protection law. One office. One field of law. Solution-oriented legal advice at the highest level. We can handle IT and data protection law. As good as any major law firm – or better. Get to know us and become part of the team.

We offer an interesting and challenging job in comfortable working atmosphere characterized by personal esteem. Flat hierarchies, regular feedback and independent involvement in client work are part of our firm culture. We welcome doctorates and specialist solicitor titles (Fachanwaltschaften). We support their acquisition and professional training in other kind.

In case we have the opinion of being a good match for each other, we’ll invite you to a second interview. Usually within two weeks after the first interview. In addition, we often take the opportunity to talk about your employment contract.

Your Development

The aim of our cooperation is a partnership on a par. From day one. Together we want to work on our perfect cooperation. We therefore put great emphasis on flat hierarchies, short and direct communication channels and regular mutual feedback. On your first day at the latest, we will clarify which partner will become your mentor and first point of contact for any work related queries. Your mentor is the first but not the only contact person for your professional and organizational questions. We live an straightforward and respectful feedback culture and give each other regular and irregular mutual feedback.

We give regular feedback at half the probationary period, at the end of the probationary period and at the beginning and half of the year. Out of schedule feedback is given in between if necessary or without a specific reason, if things go particularly well or the opposite. For us, feedback does not mean evaluation by the employer, but exchange on a par. We want to give you an open assessment of how we see you, your performance and your role in the team. But it is just as important for us to understand how you see us and how we can be a better employer for you.

In addition to our cooperation, we also want to build up and expand your professional qualifications in cooperation with you. Considering this, „Training on the job” and regular feedback from your colleagues are an integral part. In addition, we support your training and qualification efforts, including the acquisition of a certification as an external data protection officer, the acquisition of the title as a specialist lawyer (Fachanwalt) or the acquisition of an LL.M.

Your Role

As a lawyer, your task is to advise and represent our clients in all questions of IT and data protection law. Among other tasks, you prepare internal and external legal opinions, draft and negotiate data protection and IT contracts, audit and advise. If the worst comes to the worst, you will of course also represent our clients in court and official supervisory proceedings. You are a passionate lawyer. In your work, you collaborate with the partner of the law firm, who is responsible for you – in general according to the principle of four eyes, because four eyes see more than two, but with the aim to quickly assume responsibility in the mandate and in the communication with the client. In addition to your work for the client, you are an ambassador for the firm. You publish in cooperation with your colleagues or in your own name on the firm’s blog or in legal journals, give lectures at conferences and client events and put your face to the firm.

Names are smoke and mirrors and not the be-all-and-end-all in our daily work. Nevertheless, we have decided to name your career steps and use them as a basis for an exchange about your development. As a lawyer, you will usually join us as an “Associate” and will increasingly become a “Senior Associate” with independent mandate processing. Possible perspective of our cooperation is your partnership. If that is not or will not be our common goal, we still want to work with you successfully and for a long time. There is no “up or out” with us.

As a data protection consultant, you will mainly work for clients whom we advise as data protection officers. First in a supporting role, but then increasingly independent, you support the project organization and take on the tasks of a data protection officer. In doing so, you collaborate closely with the partner of the law firm, who is responsible for you. Your tasks will include audits, preparation of measure and project plans, project organization and the implementation of measures to set up and improve the data protection organisation of our clients, in particular by preparing data protection documents. If you join us as a “Data Protection Consultant”, the next step – assuming the increasingly independent mandate organisation – is the role of the “Senior Data Protection Consultant”.

As a legal trainee or research assistant, you will support the lawyers of the law firm in their tasks and get to know the practical work of an IT and data protection lawyer. Your tasks will include research and the preparation of internal legal opinions, preparation and support in the preparation of written pleadings and contracts, as well as support in auditing and compliance projects.

As a member of the firm’s management team, you will support the lawyers and data protection consultants in the handling of mandates, take care of all non-client related tasks and keep the firm running. Your tasks are versatile and include the communication with our clients, courts and supervisory authorities, the bookkeeping and accounting, the deadline management, the personnel administration and the law firm management in general.

Work // Life // Balance

We don’t compromise regarding the quality of our work and always strive to find the best solution for our clients. Developed pragmatically, legally profound and clear-cut in communication – our solutions must take into account not only the legal perspective but also the economic and strategic goals of our clients. These are high demands and require a high level of commitment from everyone in the team. In order to be able to make this commitment, we have to come to the office every working day refreshed and well rested. Work // Life // Balance for us is therefore more than just a slogan at a job fair. It is the prerequisite to be able to keep the promise to our clients.

The Team

We are a team of lawyers, data protection consultants and the law firm management. No matter in which role you become part of the PLANIT // LEGAL team. It is crucial that you make your valuable professional contribution, well complement with each other in your team and that we harmonize as persons. We will spend a lot of time together and master great challenges. That is why it is important to comprehend each other and to be on the same wavelength. We do not necessarily have to become friends, but when we do so it does not hurt either. Team building and planned or spontaneous activities make our working day more relaxed, such as the occasional „Friday Beer“, the office trip or our Christmas party, which traditionally takes place in January.
